Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
Beacon is a free tool provided by Progressive Web (Simon Wilson). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use it, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). Any questions, email simon@progressive-web.co.uk.
Who is responsible for your data
Progressive Web is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Contact: simon@progressive-web.co.uk.
What we collect
- Details you give us when you run a scan or get in touch: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the business name, location and website you enter, and any message you send.
- Diagnostic inputs and results: the business details you submit are sent to our diagnostic provider, and the resulting report is stored so you (and we) can view it.
- Usage data: privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics about how the site is used (e.g. pages viewed). This does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
The audit only reads publicly available information about the business you enter. It does not access anything private, and it changes nothing on your Google listing.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To provide the tool, run your audit, generate and show your report, and respond to your enquiry. Lawful basis: your consent and our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested.
- To follow up, we may contact you about the report you ran and how we can help with your local SEO. Lawful basis: legitimate interest. You can opt out at any time by replying or emailing us.
- To improve the service, anonymised, aggregate analysis of audits (never any individual business's data is published). Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service, who process data on our behalf:
- RelationalSEO (SEER), runs the diagnostic on the public business details you submit.
- Vercel, hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
- Neon, the database that stores your report and enquiry.
- Resend, sends transactional emails (e.g. your enquiry to us).
These providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your scan reports and enquiry details for as long as needed to provide the service and follow up, and then delete or anonymise them. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see your rights below).
Cookies
We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not set tracking cookies or identify you individually, so this site does not require a cookie consent banner. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal data. To exercise any of these, email simon@progressive-web.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
